Ex HMAS Brisbane Wreck

The ex HMAS Brisbane is a wreck sunk purposely for scuba diving off the coast of Mooloolaba. When she was sunk she was set up for wreck penetrations, meaning that she is easily penetrated with very large entry and exit holes.

The HMASBrisbane was sunk approximately 2.8 nautical miles (5.2 km; 3.2 mi) off the coast of Mooloolaba on 31 July 2005 in 27 metres (89 ft) of water. Brisbane was filled with 200 to 250 tonnes (200 to 250 long tons; 220 to 280 short tons) of concrete, and 38 small charges were detonated to breach the hull.

Brisbane sank in two minutes and ten seconds, coming to rest with the keel embedded a metre into the seabed and facing the ocean currents, and the uppermost part of the ship 3 metres (9.8 ft) below sea level

The ex HMAS Brisbane sits in 27 meters of water at its deepest. The mag deck is in about 14 meters of water whereas the superstructure is in about 5 meters of water making it the perfect place to finish your dive with a safety stop.
